Dear friend,
We got to celebrate our beautiful Joy this month! I can't believe she is already nine years old. She is a shining star. She's funny, kind and responsible.
We got to celebrate our charming Smith. 12 years! He is creative and friendly and he loves cars and good food.
We also got to celebrate our 12th full year with darling Boyd! He is thoughtful and fun and he loves Billy Joel and a good board game.
Summer, Boyd and Smith missed the last week of school to fly out to Utah. They spent a few days with Gram and Grandpa and then Boyd went to BYU tennis camp, Smith went to BYU swim camp and Summer with to OEFY in Moab with her friend Phaedra.
Meanwhile, Joy, Rose, and I enjoyed the end-of-year festivities and Joy's birthday party.
We got to celebrate our treasured Elias on Father's Day. I am so grateful for him and all he does for us. I'm also grateful for my own dad so I filled out a form for him.
When the big kids returned from Utah, Summer packed up for her first Pioneer Trek. She was part of a special musical number and had a great time.
The rest of us jumped into summer head-on.
The we jumped on a plane and headed to London. Elias has a busy week of work so the kids and I played just as hard. We went to museums, met up with friends, had our first English tea, went to the theater and walked for miles. We also took a day trip out to Bath and Stonehenge. The weather was gorgeous and we couldn't have had a better time.
By the end of the week, we were seeing signs of museumitis.
On Saturday morning we flew over to Belgrade. The flight was delayed and by the time we arrived it was late and there was a growing protest right near our hotel over 1/2 a million people, so we opted to stay near the airport the first night.
The next morning we met up with my aunt and uncle at church. They were having a district conference so instead of 20 people in their branch, they had nearly 80. It was exciting to meet so many people from different parts of the world.
We enjoyed spending the day with Drew and Marcinelle and walking around Belgrade.
The next day we drove two hours outside of Belgrade for our service project at the scout camp. They were so grateful for our service and said that the money we raised was the equivalent of 20 years of their government funding. They had some scouts there who were 12-14 that spoke English incredibly well so it was fun for my kids to get to chat with them.
