Dear friend,
When we arrived back from our long trip last month we discovered that a water rat family had set up house in the stream in our backyard. It was too close to my home for my comfort. So Elias and the kids set to work to taking care of it for me. After multiple designs, we didn't catch anything other than a squirrel, but apparently it was too much of a commotion for the rat family because we haven't seen them since.
Elias was in charge of the ward YM camp this year and I was in charge of YW camp so we decided to do it a the same time. I took the girls up to a farm in the Berkshires. We had 18 girls attend and enjoyed white water rafting, zip-lining, and a Spartan Race.
While less documented, Elias took 22 YM on an incredible backpacking trip in the White Mountains. The adventure was just too good to pass up so we sent Boyd and Smith along for the fun. All three of them had an epic time and it concluded with an afternoon of paint-balling.
Joy and Rose celebrated a wonderful time with Nana and Grandpa Peter while we were away.
We came home on my birthday and it was fun to celebrate
with the family and feel some love from friends.
We enjoyed wonderful times as a family, celebrating big occasions with friends, and going to a dance performance and day adventures.
Boyd has discovered a love for baked potatoes and on occasion makes himself one for breakfast.
It was a blast to watch the four big kids in their summer production of "Alice in Wonderland". Summer was Alice, Boyd and Smith were "Card Guards" and Joy was "Rose - the leader of the flowers".
We enjoyed a gorgeous day at Narragansett Beach
Each summer I have high hopes of taking my kids into the city multiple times, but for the last three years it has been one day the last week of school. And so it was this year; we enjoyed Battery Park, the Sea Glass Carousel, Wall Street and the Staten Island Ferry.
And with that, Summer 2023 comes to a close.
We had our back to school party and welcomed in the new school year.
Here goes nothing. And everything. (My oldest is in middle school and my youngest is now in elementary!)
