November 2020

 Dear Friend,

We kicked off November with our annual Dia de los Muertos celebration.  This year Summer made the traditional bread and each family member presented on an ancestor.

We have enjoyed beautifully mild weather and lingering fall colors.  We have spent a lot of time outdoors, riding bikes, hiking, exploring the beach at low tide, cuddling and playing.  Joy learned how to ride a two-wheeler and the four big kids became yellow belts.

Elias and I have enjoyed a few dates, once to vote and multiple times to hike.

We had a huge storm that took out some major trees in our neighborhood, but it seems that everyone stayed safe.
We were blessed to have Gram join us for the two major celebrations later in the month.
First, our darling SummerGirl turned nine.  I am so grateful to have this dear girl in my life.  She is a friend and an inspiration.  I can't believe she is nine.  Just nine of the reasons we love her: 1. She is wonderfully creative. 2. She always tries her best. 3. She works to strengthen her relationship with God. 4. She makes our lives more fun. 5. She takes care of her siblings. 6. She makes everyone feel welcome and included. 7. She chips in when she sees someone in need. 8. She is always willing to try new things. 9. She comforts those who are sad.
She shared a few pages of her journal with me recently.  She just makes these feeling charts for fun.  I'm pretty sure her EQ is higher than mine.
We enjoyed a quiet Covid Thanksgiving with Gram, made more epic by the fact that Summer got everyone to dress up as pilgrims and Indians.  Everyone got to declare one thing they wanted at the meal.  No one said turkey, Smith came the closest with "I want to bite into a big leg of meat."  The two local stores were actually out of turkey so we opted for steak and chicken legs for Smith.  It was a win!

We loved having Gram here for a few days!  She is such a pleasure to have around and we will forever be grateful for the love and fun that she brings wherever she goes.
And now, let the Christmas preparations begin!
Love you all,
Brittany et al.
