Dear friend,
I miss summer but routine is good too. All five kids are taking piano lessons now. Smith and Summer are both on swim team (albeit different teams). Joy and Rose are both playing soccer and Boyd is playing tennis. (Rose doesn't really play soccer but she goes out on the field with the rest of her team.). Elias and I are both easing back into running and we sneak in dates when we can. Twice this month we made a big batch of bread and delivered loaves to different families on Sunday afternoons. We are still enjoying pizza picnics on the beach and Fridays afternoons at the library. I continue to go to the temple once a month and Elias takes the youth to do baptisms once a quarter.
We had a visit from our friends the Beiers from Colorado. They are touring America and Canada for a year on a bus they converted into a motorhome. We spent a few days with them and then I watched their nine kids and two dogs so Janette and Aaron could enjoy a day in the city on their own. It was fun to get to know them better and reassuring to accept the truth that it's okay that this family will not be spending a year in a motorhome.
We have loved our many family walks through Great Island.
My Colorado friends and I were looking forward to a girls trip in South Carolina but due to a tropical storm in that area we changed their flights at the last minute to come here instead. I did my best to show them a true fall in Connecticut. We spent a day here picking apples, visiting the Pez factory, paddle boarding and enjoying good food. Then we spent a day in the city enjoying more food, shopping, walking the high-line, Central Park, and seeing "Six" on Broadway.
That same weekend, Summer and Elias enjoyed a one-on-one trip in upstate New York. When each child enters the youth program at church, they are invited to read the Book of Mormon cover-to-cover and when they do, they get a one-on-one trip with Mom or Dad. Summer and Elias got a lake house and started each morning with a polar plunge in the lake. They enjoyed zip-lining, good food a lot of time talking and painting with watercolors.
Hope all is well with you and yours,
Brittany et al.
